چکیده

Metrics are measures that able to produce quantifiable information. There many applications of metrics in Earth science data and services; for example, frequently used track service performance progress. In short, developing, collecting analyzing essential activities better support research, applications, education. As one the largest repositories world, NASA’s Science Data Information System (ESDIS) Project supports twelve Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs). Standard have been developed by ESDIS (EMS). These collected analyzed routinely at each DAAC. it is expected total volume will continue grow rapidly, timely technologies (e.g., cloud computing, AI/ML) improve discovery accessibility, opportunities developing new services community also arise, especially interdisciplinary research applications. However, such has become a challenge because multiple datasets often needed. Current designed single predefined dataset or service, disadvantage services. this paper, we assess current using NASA DAACs, Goddard Sciences Services Center (GES DISC), as an discuss challenges opportunities, along with recommendations addressing satellite products Highlights Overview GES DISC servicesOverview existing collection methods analysis tools examplesDiscuss services

Earth System Science Workbench: A Data Management Infrastructure for Earth Science Products

The Earth System Science Workbench (ESSW) is a nonintrusive data management infrastructure for researchers who must also be data publishers. An implementation of ESSW to track the processing of locally received satellite imagery is presented, demonstrating the Workbench’s transparent and robust support for archiving and publishing data products. ESSW features a Lab Notebook metadata service, a ...

Nasa Standards for Earth Remote Sensing Data

Earth Observing System (EOS) is one of NASA's large programs for Earth science and global change research. In order to process, distribute, and archive data from EOS satellites and to facilitate interdisciplinary research, NASA has developed the EOS Data and Information System (EOSDIS) that defines a set of standards to deal with remote sensing data. In EOSDIS, data are grouped into three conce...

Automatic geospatial metadata generation for earth science virtual data products

Recent advances in Semantic Web and Web Service technologies has shown promise for automatically deriving geospatial information and knowledge from Earth science data distributed over the Web. In a service-oriented environment, the data, information, and knowledge are often consumed or produced by complex, distributed geoscientific workflows or service chains. In order for the chaining results ...

NASA Research Strategy for Earth System Science: Climate Component

As part of its strategic plan, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) formulated the goal of “utilizing the knowledge of the Sun, Earth and other planetary bodies to develop predictive environmental, climate, and natural resource models to help ensure sustainable development, and improve the quality of life on Earth” (NASA 1998). We know now that, over geologic periods, the ea...

P1.31 a Software System to Support Earth Science Data Services

In Earth science applications, data services, such as data mining, subsetting, reformatting, and resampling, become more and more important primarily due to the ever-increasing large volumes of data with heterogeneous formats, spatial-temporal coverage and resolutions, and at distributed locations. Existing data systems are lacking support for these data service related activities. We have been...
